Education

Educational programming for children, youth, and adults is offered throughout the school year.  In addition, retreats and other one time forums are held from time to time.  Registration for all classes takes place at the back of the sanctuary or you may call the church office at 773-281-2655.

Faith In Practice  (formally known as Begin @ 10)

Sunday Mornings @ 10 am

No reading required!! Join us for a lively discussion each Sunday at 10AM focusing on how we experience and live out our faith in a complicated and challenging world. LVPC is committed to nurturing an individual quest for faith and fostering a socially responsive mission on local to global levels. Faith in Practice offers a place to explore what this means to each of us and to connect to our faith community.

Sunday School for 
Children and Youth

Sunday Mornings@ 10 am

We offer a lively, educational Sunday school experience for all children ages three and up. Our children and youth begin each morning together for singing and collection of their weekly offering at 10 am in the fellowship hall. The children ages three through fifth grade use the “rotation Sunday school” model to explore a Biblical story for several weeks. Each week they dive into the story using a different method, from cooking to science to drama to games to other multisensory approaches. This is an exciting way to explore the Bible!

Our middle school class (6th-8th grades) experiences and discusses the lectionary readings for each Sunday. We’re excited about the first year for this class in the 2010-2011 school year!

The high school class will be starting something new this year. They’ll read a variety of books and literature to deepen their faith, challenge themselves, and learn more about one another all in a safe learning environment.

Crossroads Bible Study

Tuesday (6:30 pm communal meal) 7:00-8:30 pm

Our faith should be a resource that supports our everday life.  This intersection is an exciting place of growth.  Group Bible study gives us companions on the way and plenty of extra ideas to consider.  At the "crossroads" we examine how daily life can become a place for sacred discovery.  Intergenerational study - all are welcome!

Topics this year will include:
From Jesus to Christ: The First Christians
The Belhar Confession
Feminist/Womanist/Liberation Theology
Christianity 101 Back to Basics

Y.A.B.S (Young Adult Bible Study

Tuesday (6:30 pm communal meal) 7:00-8:30 pm

This is an easy-going group of young adults wrestling with what it means to be a faithful Christian in the twenty-first century. It's a great way to meet other people in their 20s and 30s. Just come as you are!

This fall’s topics will include:
Who is God?
Why doesn’t God do something about bad things?
What role does humanity have in Creation?
What does the future hold?
Who is Jesus?
