Graduation Requirements
The minimum requirements are 20
(whole-year) credits. These must include 4 1/2 English, 1/2 of which
must be Old Testament or New Testament Literature; 3 math and science, 1 of
which must be Human Biology; 3 social studies, 1 of which must be U.S.
History, 1/2 of which must be Self, School, and Society' 1 Cooperative Work;
1/2 Physical Education; 1/2 Fine Arts; some consumer education instruction,
7 additional credits, and pass the U.S. & Illinois Constitution exam.
Demonstrate that you can find
your way around Chicago and the nearby suburbs using public transportation
-- either by passing the course Urban transportation (1/4 social studies
credit), or proving proficiency by passing the test.
Demonstrate readiness to enter
the world of work by holding a part-time job at least 12 hours a week for a
minimum of five consecutive months. This must be done during the last
two years immediately prior to graduation. The job is subject to
approval by Academy staff. Volunteer work or specific vocational
training may replace working at a paid job, depending on the individual circumstances.
Written approval for this must be given by the principal.
